About Zingali
When you have discovered the limitations of commercial loudspeakers (all variations on a profitable theme of a veneered box with OEM drivers) you may be ready to look beyond the High Street and opt out of a game which is very profitable to its players. For the same price you can buy a loudspeaker in which your money is spent not on marketing and distribution but on parts and construction.
For twenty years Zingali has grown into the largest loudspeaker firm in Italy, and in 2006 has moved to a huge factory with five demonstration rooms.
Unlike all other large rival “Italian” loudspeakers, the new facility preserves the tradition of a true crafted product for it can be said that from the £995 per pair Prelude Ones to the £12,950 Home monitors featuring two 15” bass drivers, all Zingali speakers are designed, and made in Italy: drivers, cabinets, everything. The South American Toulipé wood is imported 6 – 8 years in advance and slowly dried to assure stability and perfect visual and acoustic consistency.
At all price points, Zingali loudspeakers alone in the world feature the patented Omniray technology, unique porting, and the circular horn free of colouration with long throat and compact depth. Perhaps most critically, all Zingali Hi-Fi speakers employ the compression driver which is so expensive to make but far exceeds the sensitivity and power, speed and sweetness, dynamic and frequency range which render cheaper moving coil drivers into a series of compromises.
When you are ready for Zingali, you need to make only one decision: which model?
As usual, constraints of cost and room size apply … but that’s where the conventional wisdom ends.
The Omniray principle means that there is very little beaming and stereo sweet spots. Zingali loudspeakers are very room friendly. Domestic placement along with the carved wood beauty make these speakers very wife-friendly. That is a feature of Italian loudspeakers in general, but for the reasons described here, the engineering and sonic qualities of Zingali differentiate the range from its compatriots. The others are not alternatives, musically.
Although Zingali do not actively promote reviews and product placement, they have won major awards from Italy to Japan. Distinguished musicians include users from Paul McCartney to Sting, and professionals from the Italian Film Industry Awards to Sony-Columbia main studios in Tokyo. We know which models they have chosen, so what about you? If you are on a lesser budget, take heart, because the value is about 50% of the competition. Moreover, the efficiency and easy load means that modest amplifiers may be used.
The smallest models are often overlooked because listeners think in terms of the costs and limitations of small stand-mount speakers. Well, that’s a mistake. A pair of Overture 1 loudspeakers at £2,000 per pair including pedestals will blow away any expected limitations, but it is true that ascending the scale brings more spacious and transparent presentation, more detail, speed and low frequency (extended bass as well as the solid authority in which air is moved to reproduce the live event in your room).
If there is a description to epitomise Zingali, it is not the detail, the bass, or any Hi-Fi terms. It is the uncanny sense of the living acoustic event coming back to life. To audition Zingali loudspeakers you may have to travel for a dealer who is motivated by pride rather than profit; but you will have reached for once and for all your destination.
Cinema
The authentic voice of the theatre is valves and horns and Italy is passionate about cinema. Small surprise that the Zingali designs make the High Street rivals look and sound artificial and contrived.
