Unison P30K
Stereo/Mono Power Amplifier
Unison Research P30K has been designed to satisfy the demands of audiophiles
who require high power together with outstanding sonic performance.
To achieve his demanding brief, we have chosen to use four KT88 power
valves in the output stage - two per channel - configured in pure class-A
parallel single-ended mode.
This provides 30 watts of power with considerable driving ability and
quite exquisite musicality. P30K is in short, a powerful yet refined
performer.
Extra versatility
Uniquely for an amplifier of this type, the output may be switched externally
to give 6o watts of mono power whilst still maintaining its class-A single-ended
mode of operation.
And in order to allow perfect matching with all loudspeakers - even those
with difficult impedance characteristics - three output taps are provided
ranging from 4 Ohms to 16 Ohms for stereo configuration, and from 2 Ohms
to 8 Ohms for mono configuration.
Construction
The component count and built quality of P30K are up to the very highest
Unison Research standards. Of particular note are the power supply and
output transformers - key elements in any successful single-ended tube
amplifier - designed and painstakingly made as always in-house.
The chassis and metal parts are designed for robustness and long life.
The unit is provided with a metallic protective grille, which allows
the valves to be seen and enjoyed. A brushed stainless - steel reflector
plate is fitted beneath the valves to ensure good heat dissipation and
temperature stability. The wood fascia is handmade and polished using
natural lacquers, and adds a touch of classic elegance to this finely
crafted amplifier.

Ayre Acoustics C-5xe
Universal Disk Player Stereophile Extract: "It ought
to be fairly obvious that I found the Ayre C-5xe more than satisfactory.
I didn't expect it to disappoint, but I was unprepared for just
how much it delighted me. I've heard a lot of impressive audio
components over the years, but I've heard very few that afforded
me greater musical pleasure or sent me on as many voyages of
musical discovery through discs I thought I knew well." - Wes

Brinkmann
LaGrange turntableThe Brinkmann LaGrange turntable is without
a doubt the best source component I have ever had the chance

Teac Esoteric DV-50SThe
Esoteric DV-50 is the most fun you can have with digital music
playback short of the dCS trio reviewed
by Michael Fremer in April 2003 (Vol.26 No.4). Given that the
dCS gear costs about six times as much as the DV-50, the Esoteric
is a screaming bargain, especially considering its hyper-advanced
technology, bulletproof build, and exceptional sound. You can even
play movies on it. - Stereophile Extract |
