The Versatile Seismic Sink Stand
The Versatile Seismic Sink Stand (VSSS) is Townshend Audio’s
new vibration isolation equipment support. Based on the multiple
award-winning Seismic Sink Stand first introduced in 1996 - and now established
as the gold standard of equipment supports - the brand new VSSS sets
a new level of performance, style and practicality.
Four maintenance-free, dual-tensioned polymer load cells at each corner,
in conjunction with the mass of the stand (plus equipment), form a stable,
suspended mass/spring low-pass filter with an attenuation of about 20dB
per decade above 2Hz. This ensures that deleterious ground-borne vibrations
from 4Hz and above are virtually eliminated. Isolating audio/video
components from vibration increases fidelity and imparts an openness
and clarity to the sound with gains in focus and solidity of image which
a non-suspended stand simply cannot approach.
Positioning of shelves to accommodate varying heights of components
is infinitely adjustable and shelves may be added or removed without
dismantling the stand. Overall height to the top shelf can be chosen – anywhere
from 22cm (9”) to 120cm (4’). The soft plastic feet
are suitable for wood or carpet floors and are easily adjustable to level
the stand.
Standard shelves are of polished, toughened safety glass for appearance
and durability. And, contrary to popular belief, the glass does
not “ring” as it does on spiked stands because the four point
mounting clamps have vibration absorbing pads which form a constrained
layer damped assembly with virtually no resonance. Prices are available
on request.

Specifications
There are five standard widths of VSSS:
Size 0, for equipment measuring 34cm (13.3”)
Size 1, for equipment measuring 45cm (17.5”)
Size 2, for equipment measuring 50cm (20”)
Size 3, for equipment measuring 53cm (22”)
Size 4, for equipment measuring 1m (39”) (Plasma TV)
Special custom-width and depth stands can be made for those with audio/video
components outside this range. The maximum weight that may be safely
handled is 70kg (150lb) including shelves at 3kg each. Note that
the best performance is achieved when the load is as close to the maximum
as possible with the heaviest pieces towards the bottom of the stand.

Ayre Acoustics C-5xe
Universal Disk Player Stereophile Extract: "It ought
to be fairly obvious that I found the Ayre C-5xe more than satisfactory.
I didn't expect it to disappoint, but I was unprepared for just
how much it delighted me. I've heard a lot of impressive audio
components over the years, but I've heard very few that afforded
me greater musical pleasure or sent me on as many voyages of
musical discovery through discs I thought I knew well." - Wes

Brinkmann
LaGrange turntableThe Brinkmann LaGrange turntable is without
a doubt the best source component I have ever had the chance

Teac Esoteric DV-50SThe
Esoteric DV-50 is the most fun you can have with digital music
playback short of the dCS trio reviewed
by Michael Fremer in April 2003 (Vol.26 No.4). Given that the
dCS gear costs about six times as much as the DV-50, the Esoteric
is a screaming bargain, especially considering its hyper-advanced
technology, bulletproof build, and exceptional sound. You can even
play movies on it. - Stereophile Extract |
