12" Tonearm
A unipivot device, configured to permit free movement in both the lateral
and vertical planes whilst preventing any rocking movement, the 12" S7
tonearm was rationally designed for professional use. Stripped of all
excess baggage, the tonearm is simple, obvious and dependable; it will
perform reliably and consistently ad infinitum, generating accurate retrieval
of information from the disc, neither adding nor subtracting from the
original - which is, after all is said and done, exactly what a tonearm
should do.
The internal tonearm wiring uses high quality 'silver-over-copper' stranded
cable with a Teflon dielectric. Connector assemblies may be supplied
for unbalanced or balanced interconnects.
The headshell is a fully detachable item, offering adjustment to both
overhang and azimuth, and locks firmly to the tonearm beam using the
cartridge mounting screws. A cueing device is aligned close to the tonearm
pivot: this is a damped piston assembly system which permits safe cueing
of the tonearm over a wide arc. Anti-skating is provided for by a fully
adjustable thread/wheel/weight assembly, supplied with a number of bias
weights to enable calibration with any cartridge.
Vertical tracking angle may be readily adjusted by a thumb wheel situated
below the main pivot assembly, each full revolution of the thumbhole
corresponding to a 1mm incremental change in the vertical tracking angle.
The tonearm geometry is compatible with the SME mounting system and satisfies
the same geometric data as the SME 3012R tonearm. High fidelity applications
are perhaps better served by the shorter 9" version of the S7 tonearm.
Apart from overall length and effective mass the two arms are, in effect,
identical and share a common sonic signature. The 9" arm may be
supplied in preference to the 12" version if requested, or as an
addition - with a separate or combination armboard. The 9" arm can
transcribe discs up to a maximum 14" diameter.
Specific archive applications are catered for by the option of a reversed-geometry
tonearm to enable accurate tracking of large counter-clockwise archive
discs. Custom counterweights, bias weights, headshells, record spindles,
etc. may be specially fabricated for compatibility with unusually high
mass cartridges or other atypical hardware / software. Please contact
us with your specific requirements.

Ayre Acoustics C-5xe
Universal Disk Player Stereophile Extract: "It ought
to be fairly obvious that I found the Ayre C-5xe more than satisfactory.
I didn't expect it to disappoint, but I was unprepared for just
how much it delighted me. I've heard a lot of impressive audio
components over the years, but I've heard very few that afforded
me greater musical pleasure or sent me on as many voyages of
musical discovery through discs I thought I knew well." - Wes

Brinkmann
LaGrange turntableThe Brinkmann LaGrange turntable is without
a doubt the best source component I have ever had the chance
to enjoy over an extended period of time. It represents a level
of perfection and emotional connection to music that I have never
heard before. - Danny Kaey extract from Positive Feedback |
Teac Esoteric DV-50SThe
Esoteric DV-50 is the most fun you can have with digital music
playback short of the dCS trio reviewed
by Michael Fremer in April 2003 (Vol.26 No.4). Given that the
dCS gear costs about six times as much as the DV-50, the Esoteric
is a screaming bargain, especially considering its hyper-advanced
technology, bulletproof build, and exceptional sound. You can even
play movies on it. - Stereophile Extract |
