Response Hexa System
In nearly thirty years of manufacturing, through countless two-channel
designs and more recently Home Theatre systems, ProAc have only ever
produced loudspeakers of the very highest quality. Our miniature models
especially have established new audio benchmarks over the years. Now
that philosophy and expertise has been applied to the design of a radically
new satellite system.
Most satellite systems offer five identical units covering mid and treble
frequencies, augmented by a sub-woofer covering the bass output. Our
approach has been different, resulting in the Response Hexa system, which
sets new standards of sound and build quality in 5.1 format.
Just four tiny satellite units generate the whole frequency range except
for low bass. Instead of a fifth satellite, a larger dedicated centre-channel
unit is employed, featuring identical drive units, crossover slopes and
frequencies as the satellites. The system is underpinned by a new compact
sub-woofer design which integrates seamlessly with the other units.
Each satellite houses a newly designed 41.2" bass/midrange driver
which uses the same cone material as some of our most expensive two-way
designs such as the Response One SC. Complementing this is a special
one inch soft dome tweeter which uses a neodymium magnet assembly with
a radial fin cooling system to give maximum dispersion and power handling.
These two drivers are harmonised through a high quality crossover network
to produce a remarkably flat frequency response of plus or minus 3db,
typically plus or minus 2db over upper bass, mid and high frequencies.
That is exceptionally accurate reproduction, in line with the very best
mini-monitor performance.
The centre-channel unit, developed specifically for the Hexa system,
uses identical drive units to the satellites, but with the addition of
an extra bass/midrange driver and a larger enclosure.
The small sub-woofer is immensely powerful for its size. It houses a
heavy duty 8" long throw bass unit with fourlayer voice coil and
titanium former for high power handling and efficient thermal dissipation.
Fully active with a built-in amplifier and crossover network, it can
be used for either 5.1 applications or two-channel audio.
All drive units and crossovers are connected with oxygen free multistrand
copper wiring and the crossovers are split to allow bi-wiring and bi-amping.
Each cabinet is expertly crafted with a mixture of high-density MDF and
expensive marine ply. As with all our top end loudspeakers, bitumus damping
is used throughout and each cabinet is covered with luxurious real wood
veneer.
The innovative Hexa system delivers a smooth unfatiguing sound on a
scale out of all proportion to the size of the cabinets, providing a
compelling and lifelike listening experience.
