Origin Live Sovereign
The Sovereign turntable is our top of the range deck. It incorporates
the latest thinking to produce what we believe is the highest performing
turntable available, regardless of price or reputation. The deck is a
semi suspended sub-chassis design built with the highest grade materials
to the highest design tolerances.
Features and Specifications
Fabulous Style
Chrome plated pods, chrome assemblies with black plinth and acrylic platter
make this deck a design showpiece.
High Grade Parts
High mass plinth machined from from very high grade, inert and
expensive material.
Triple plinth decoupling.
Low resonance high inertia platter.
Platter de-coupled with an inert sub-platter.
Highly specified bearing.
High-grade military specification Arctic oil is employed in the bearing.
Rigid sub-chassis with low resonance and unique centre point support
arrangement along with damping devices.
Even higher quality and more powerful DC motor than used on the Resolution.
Power supply
The new, regulated Ultra power supply feeding the motor is load compensating
and stable across a wide range of temperatures. It uses more sophisticated
circuitry, higher grade components and a top grade transformer. Speed
control is switched electronically between 33 rpm and 45 rpm.
Setting up
There is nothing to go "out of tune" on the Sovereign. The
deck is a sprung suspended design which is nevertheless simple to set
up and fuss free. VTA arm adjustment is provided for Origin Live and
Rega arms, which makes setting the arm height much easier.
Dimensions:
490mm wide, 400mm deep, 160mm height.
Weight is 9Kg including arm.

the depth of research behind the Sovereign. It is this depth of research
that has made the Sovereign so musically revealing. Why not discover
for yourself the astonishing potential of the world's highest performing
medium for the reproduction of music?
Reviews
"overall fit and finish are superlative, the styling speaks for itself,
and sonically, the deck has stellar abilities. How stellar? Well, the first
slab of vinyl to hit the deck had us giggling like helium-addled hyenas.
That soon turned to awe as the Sovereign revealed its true colours, leaving
us with jaws so slack that any self-respecting redneck would have been
proud. With all forms of music it remains effortlessly composed, giving
tremendous insight into the original recording’s emotion.Detail levels
stun, revealing subtleties we had never noticed even in some of our personal
faves. The separation of instruments is fantastic too: the sound appears
to be huge and beautifully spread through the vast soundstage, while bass
is deep, tuneful and punchy...We can't recommend this Origin Live deck
highly enough:it has the power to stop a herd of wildebeest with it's authority
- yet it can also bring a grown man to his knees in tears"- 5

“The trio (Sovereign – Conqueror – Lyra Olympos) made me
forget the walls of my listening room. Fed by well produced records…you
felt immediately transported into the recording location. But the three excel
not only in spatial recreation. No matter if you play old blues records,
grooving Jazz or big orchestras, the music goes straight under your skin.
Even with the most exacting test records it was absolutely impossible, not
to get caught up emotionally and to only analyse the sound reproduction.
If there is program material the Origin Live loves most, it is fast and percussive
music. Here the combination could present their speed best. In terms of speed,
the combination not only gets from zero to one hundred in record time, but
also gets back to standing in the same time. So much detail, so much speed,
so much space and such a full presentation should be hard to get anywhere
else at this price. For me ORIGIN LIVE in the analogue sector is the discovery
of the year!”
Review IMAGE HIFI July/August 2004 Nr.58, Dirk Sommer :

The Encounter builds on the specifications of the Silver in the following
respects:
Completley revised yoke with higher rigidity and inertia
Higher specification bearings
Improved materials and bearing decoupling in arm pillar and
yoke
Stylish arm rest plate
MICHELL
TecnoDec Michell's new TecnoDec is essentially a latest-spec
GyroDec with the expensive bits stripped off. To wit, it has
no suspension to speak of, and lacks its bigger brother's beautiful
suspended weights, in all their gold-plated splendour. Frankly
though, if I was going to strip bits off the Gyro to slash cash,
these are precisely what I'd bin. The advent of the new DC motor
(its source still a well kept secret!) has made the new TecnoDec
even more speed-stable than the old, QC-aspired AC Orbe complete
with that massive massloaded acrylic platter. In the new DC powered
world, weighty platters would appear less essential. |

SE Once you hear the Gyrodec SE Mk.II (or rather, don't hear
it), you know it’s going to be in your system for the long
haul. With a naturally balanced cartridge, I have not heard reproduced
music sounding closer to live than through the Gyrodec. I don't
see the need to spend more on a turntable, even after hearing
the big boys at various high end shows. This turntable is designed
to provide long-term satisfaction, and is most highly recommended. Brad

SME
Model 10 The SME Model 10 is a welcome addition to a very
fine range, handling all sorts of material with an open and persuasive
balance that encourages you to keep on listening and hunting
for more vinyl (it is out there by the way). As well as being
stylish it's ridiculously well made - so forget your BMWs and
your Lexii. This is Rolls-Royce Aerospace grade hi-fi and it's
a bargain at the price. - JK, Hifi Choice |
Brinkmann LaGrange The
Brinkmann LaGrange turntable is without a doubt the best source
component I have ever had the chance to enjoy over an extended
period of time. It represents a level of perfection and emotional
connection to music that I have never heard before. - Danny Kaey

Origin
Live Resolution “In fact, this arm-table
combo is one of the finest performers I’ve heard at any
price....I could make a case for preferring this $4465 spread
to the $20,000+ version .....“The Resolution Modern works
brilliantly, is well-built, and its price is right. But regardless
of price, this is one of the truly special products I’ve
reviewed in the past 18 years.”
($4,465 is for Encounter tonearm & Resolution. $20,000 reference
is Michael’s Simon Yorke S7, Kuzma Air Tracking Arm, Sounds
of Silence platform).

SME Model 20/2A If
I have appeared to be too uncritical of this player, then I apologise
but it is one of the few truly great components to come my way
in recent years. As an evaluation and demonstration tool the 20/2A
is unsurpassed. On occasions I have tried to set up top class systems
only to be frustrated when, despite hours of setting up and fine
adjustment, the system simply fails to gel. This never happened
with an SME player at the front end! - HiFi Choice David
