Michell Odyssey
How often in Hifi do you truly get to own something that no one else
has. There were only 100 of these turntables manufactured.
"When David Price, editor of Hi-Fi World, was asked to assemble
a brilliantly balanced system it was inevitable that he chose his beloved
vinyl as his preferred source. The limited edition Michell Odyssey turntable
was partnered by the equally capable Michell TecnoArm, Ortofon Rondo
Bronze MC cartridge"
Hi-Fi World - September 2005 -David Price
The design is of course well known and it has stood the test of time
both artistically and sonically. It is difficult to describe just how
tactile and gratifying it is to play a record on a deck such as this
and to watch the weights spinning below the platter. It is indeed a joy
to use and a design icon.
As a complete design package this is all but impossible to beat for
the price, and the chance to own a piece of Hifi history and be one of
a hundred, priceless.
Based on the classic Gyrodec, the Limited Edition Michell Odyssey will
be produced in a numbered series of just 100 pieces supplied in an all
black finish, with a black acrylic base and the signature weights suspended
below the platter being nickel silver rather than the usual gold.
The black damped chassis sits on a clear acrylic spider to give a second
level of isolation as found on the Orbe. A record clamp is supplied as
standard. The dust cover is manufactured from clear acrylic. A matching
black HR power supply completes the turntable.
The Odyssey comes with a black version of the highly acclaimed and well
matched Tecnoarm "A", a perfect partner
With its striking finish, attention to detail and outstanding sound
quality it will only be a short period of time before the 100 units are
snapped up.

Ayre Acoustics C-5xe
Universal Disk Player Stereophile Extract: "It ought
to be fairly obvious that I found the Ayre C-5xe more than satisfactory.
I didn't expect it to disappoint, but I was unprepared for just
how much it delighted me. I've heard a lot of impressive audio
components over the years, but I've heard very few that afforded
me greater musical pleasure or sent me on as many voyages of
musical discovery through discs I thought I knew well." - Wes

Gryphon
Diablo The ultimate reference integrated amplifier at £6100.
The Gryphon sonic magic in a reasonable sized and georgeous case,
you must hear this as it puts most pre power combo's to shame,
pure music at its best. |
Brinkmann
LaGrange turntableThe Brinkmann LaGrange turntable is without
a doubt the best source component I have ever had the chance
to enjoy over an extended period of time. It represents a level
of perfection and emotional connection to music that I have never
heard before. - Danny Kaey extract from Positive Feedback |
Teac Esoteric DV-50SThe
Esoteric DV-50 is the most fun you can have with digital music
playback short of the dCS trio reviewed
by Michael Fremer in April 2003 (Vol.26 No.4). Given that the
dCS gear costs about six times as much as the DV-50, the Esoteric
is a screaming bargain, especially considering its hyper-advanced
technology, bulletproof build, and exceptional sound. You can even
play movies on it. - Stereophile Extract |
