Gryphon Trident
The ongoing adventure of exploration
and re-invention that has defined the exceptional Gryphon loudspeaker
range continues with the Gryphon Trident. Like its acclaimed
predecessors, the Gryphon Cantata and Poseidon, the Gryphon Trident
is based on rare insight into the true needs of the music enthusiast,
Gryphon founder Flemming E. Rasmussen elaborates, “It began with the
Cantata, the first stand-mounted, compact two-way design to deliver
High End realism in small to average sized rooms. Then, the audiophile
community demanded to hear what we could do if there were no
constraints on size and price. Our answer was the Gryphon Poseidon, a
four-tower system that occupies a considerable piece of domestic real
estate. That generated requests for a single-enclosure, full-range
system that could perform to the same high standards in somewhat
smaller rooms.”
Living up to the high standards that set Gryphon loudspeakers in a
class all their own, the GryphonTrident achieves the theoretical ideal of
all drivers operating in phase at all times at all frequencies.
This monumental achievement involves a unique configuration of
dedicated onboard 500 Watt bass power amplifiers in conjunction with 7
extensively modified Danish drive units per speaker (four 8” woofers, two
5” midrange units, one Scan Speak Revelator ring radiator high
frequency drive unit), hand-adjusted Constant Phase crossovers,
proprietary Q Control room integration and a non-resonant enclosure
weighing in at 195 kg per channel with a carefully calculated time-
aligned front baffle curvature.
The musical importance of this achievement is immediately appreciated,
as it effectively prevents any veiling or smearing in the temporal domain,
allowing the Gryphon Trident to re-create the original acoustic event
with laser-sharp clarity, alacrity and precision.
