ATC SCM-50ASL
ATC’s 30th Anniversary SCM50-ASL Signature Tower
will be the fi rst version of this famous loudspeaker
to be produced as a fl oor standing model. Made
in a Limited Edition of only 30 pairs, the already
outstanding bass performance of the standard
SCM50A is considerably enhanced by an increase in
the internal cube of the tower enclosure.
The Anniversary Active 50 Tower’ speaker
incorporates a new ultra low noise fully discrete
version of ATCs grounded source topology 350 watt
three-way amp pack operating in class A up to 2/3rds
of output, giving 200watts to bass driver, 100watts to
mid-range driver, and 50watts to HF driver. The noise
fl oor of minus 90dB, gives this speaker exceptional
dynamic range and is probably the lowest noise level
achieved by any domestic loudspeaker in production
today.
The Anniversary Active 50 Tower is fully veneered in
a beautiful honey coloured multi-grained American
Burr Magnolia with a rich ‘piano’ high gloss fi nish.
Removing the dark blue front grille, reveals a titanium
fi nished baffl e, and dome wave guide, this fi nish
also applied to the amp pack on the rear of the
speaker. The clear opalescent non-resonant bass plate
incorporates optional three point heavy duty polished
steel spiked feet for fi rm coupling to concrete or
wooden fl oors. The supplied matching 1” circular,
centred polished steel discs are felt padded, to protect
polished fl oors, where required. These speakers are
supplied with a nique ATC embossed real leather
wallet, containing an authenticated certifi cate signed
by Billy Woodman.
ALREADY AN AWARD WINNER
A passive version of the Anniversary 50 Tower
Speaker was sent to Japan in advance to meet the
Stereo Sound 2004 Competition Deadline. The result
was that this remarkable speaker was awarded the
prestigious “Stereo Sound Grand Prix 2004” honour.
HERITAGE
All ATC products are hand built and assembled at its
factory in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England. Modern
computer-controlled production sits comfortably with
hand-crafted technology, resulting in outstanding
products with a strong professional heritage and
rugged overbuild. As the world’s sound standard ATC
voice most of your music and movie software. Users
worldwide include the new Sony DVD Mastering
Suite in New York. A similar installation has been
supplied to Pioneer at Barcelona. Todd AO Studio
in Hollywood continues to use ATC speakers in its
main monitoring suite, as do Telarc, Chandos, Naxos
and many other recording studios worldwide. The
recently installed ATC 2 Channel sound reinforcement
loudspeaker system at the Walt Disney Concert Hall
in Los Angeles has been declared an outstanding
success.
SYSTEMS MATCHING
A lot of audiophiles regard ATC as an analytical
sound, and have heard mismatched and inadequate
front-ends. ATC speakers have huge potential but will
certainly not work well with domestic or High Street
products; no matter how well they were reviewed.
