The “X-03 Special Edition” and “UX-3 Special Edition” have evolved from Esoteric’s X-03 and UX-3. These 2 models represent the latest generation
of the “3” series line-up and incorporate enhancements found in Esoteric’s flagship series, the “P-01/D-01” separate component system. Audio output terminals (L/R) and digital audio output terminals are upgraded to WBT “nextgen” connectors for higher quality signal transmission. Main internal wiring has evolved to 6N copper class, providing a more natural audio signal path. Furthermore, these models feature X-01 / UX-1 style thick aluminum side and top panels providing a more rigid and attractive cabinet.. An exquisitely engraved “ESOTERIC” logo and the “Special Edition” gold emblems are found on the top panel indicating these enhancements. Enhanced technology from Esoteric has now allowed us to the present to you the UX-3 SE and
the X-03 SE.

i.LINK(IEEE1394) Interface

X-03/UX-3 is equipped with an iLINK(IEEE1394) interface for multi-channel reproduction. An i.LINK(IEEE1394) circuit, which was developed originally for P-01/D-01, enables an audiophile quality digital transmission. You can enjoy Super Audio CD or DVD multi-channel reproduction with i.LINK-ready multi-channel DAC or AV amplifier.

CONTENT OF IMPROVEMENTS OVER X-03

Main internal wiring has been upgraded to “6N copper class,” providing a highly accurate signal path for enhanced audio reproduction! By upgrading to high purity 6N copper class wire, X-03 audio resolution characteristics and “acoustic texturing” improves. This wiring was jointly developed with Mitsubishi Cable Industries, Ltd. and Acro Japan Ltd. Other improvements include internal connections and power cables, adopted from the Esoteric P-01/D-01 “flagship” system.

Upgraded audio output circuits influence & improve performance of the D to A signal converter. Through the use of upgraded capacitors and resistors, like those used in the P-01/D-01 system design, Esoteric has enhanced both DAC and analog output stage audio performance. This provides superior ambience and “presence,” creating more of an “open air” listening experience. These improvements allow a more “natural impact,” and perceived depth of field is improved.

Audio output terminals (L/R) and digital audio output terminals are upgraded to RCA "nextgen" terminal connectors, as provided by Germany’s WBT Company. These terminal upgrades to model “WBT-0 210Cu,” RCA’s next generation connectors, provide higher performance for both audio output applications. Typically, lower grade connector plates touch a “cold side.” Electrically this is assumed to be an open structure by contact at that point. The RCA “nextogen” connectors eliminate adverse effects generated by an open structure and noise such as eddy current is greatly reduced or eliminated. Additionally, digital transmission in combination with a new high-level, digital cable, one that guarantees 75 Ω impedance is now utilized. This allows better control of signal attenuation due impedance fluctuation. This adds additional sonic improvement noticeable within a listening environment.
